Take the PSAT in the fall of your sophomore year to practice for the SAT
Take the SAT or ACT in the fall of your junior year:
Talk to your guidance counselor and find out information about scholarships, grants, and student loans.
What courses should I take in high school?
Take an English course each year.
You should take a math course each year: Algebra I, II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus.
You should take biology, chemistry or physics, earth/space science.
What Grade Level Would you like to teach?
Early Childhood Teacher: You can teach Nursery, Kindergarten, through 4th grade.
Middle School Teacher: You can teach students in 5th through 8th grade.
High School Teacher: You can teach students in 9th through 12th grade.
What Subject Would I Like to Teach?
Early Childhood Teaching: You would take a variety of early childhood courses that would lead to a teaching degree in early childhood education.
Middle School Teaching: You take a variety of education courses and then major in a specific academic area such as math, science, language arts, history, art, music, physical education.
High School Teaching: You major in a specific area such as art, music, history, English, chemistry, physics, math, physical education, etc. You are required to take several education courses and at the end of four years, you will have a teaching degree in a specific subject area.
