Black Men Teaching presented on careers in teaching to the participants and parents of Brothers Keepers program. The Brothers Keepers offers mentor-ship, tutoring and guidance for young men in the city of Pittsburgh. (02/27/2013)

WOODLAND HILLS YOUTH SCHOLARS GROUP

The Woodland Hills Youth Scholars Group participated in leadership and team building aimed at promoting education as a career opportunity.

HUMAN SERVICES CENTER CORPARTION

Black Men Teaching presented life on the Pennsylvania frontier to a group of 5th grade participants at the HSCC summer program in Turtle Creek. These students participated in role playing activities depicting the life of Native Americans and the early settlers. (07/15/2013)

THE BRIDGE OF PITTSBURGH

The Bridge of Pittsburgh group participated in the Marshmallow Challenge Leadership and Team building activities. (07/30/2013)

HOMEWOOD CHILDREN'S VILLAGE AND WQED CHRIS MOORE PT.1

The Homewood Children's Village participants demonstrated leadership and team building skills participating in the Marshmallow Challenge. The session was filmed for a segment with Pittsburgh's WQED Horizons hosted by Chris Moore. The show will feature programs aimed at helping and uplifting young Black Men. (08/21/2013)

Is the campus a safe place?

Most colleges place their safety record on their web page and include information about the campus police department, the emergency-notification system, and emergency plans.  Most colleges have campus patrols as well as safety seminars for students

What kinds of academic opportunities are available?

Most colleges have a parent web page that talks about faculty and student opportunities to interact, the potential to get involved in actual research projects with faculty, and how continue the learning process in student housing facilities.

What kinds of academic majors are available for my child?

Most colleges have an alphabetical list of majors on their web page. Typical colleges offer early childhood, middle school, and high school teacher certification programs.

What is the application process?

Perhaps you want to take a tour of the campus. Great! Most colleges have regularly scheduled tours for you to sign-up for.

Can my son apply on-line?

Yes. Every college now permits you to apply on-line.

What is the cost of tuition and how does it compare with other colleges?

Type in name of the college along with the term "costs and tuition" and you can find out tuition cost, the cost for room and board

Is financial aid available?

Type in the name of the college along with the term "financial aid" and you will find out how to apply for financial aid, your eligibility, the various types of aid, and how to contact the financial aid department.

Are scholarships available?

Yes. The Office of Financial Aid at most universities can provide information on scholarships. Beware, you need to know about Scholarship Scams.
